A Sensory Experience at Middin De Witte Vogel

Middin De Witte Vogel

At the De Witte Vogel Child Daycare Center in The Hague, Middin provides care for children aged 0 to 6 with disabilities. In collaboration with IKC, a unique experience space has been developed: a place where calm, play, and development come together.

Learning Through Play, Even During Therapy

The space invites children to interact through light effects, sounds, and wall games from the interactive Experience Wall. Everything is tailored to the child’s pace and sensory world. The activities strike a balance between active movement and relaxation.

Not only caregivers use the space — therapists, such as physiotherapists, also utilize this environment for playful therapy sessions. The result is a multifunctional room that supports both care and development.

Familiar and Reassuring

The design features a farm theme, with friendly animals, recognizable sounds, and a sensory playhouse with soft materials. The theme reflects the children’s world outside Middin as well, providing a sense of calm, recognition, and engagement.

Enriching Care Together

The experience room strengthens Middin’s vision of care: an environment where children are not only cared for, but also surprised, stimulated, and seen. It is a valuable addition to daily practice.

Curious what such a space could mean for your organization?
