Collaboration Mappa Mondo

Instore Kids Corners is going to supply several play systems to the Mappa Mondo households. Together we are creating the perfect playing environment for the development of kids.

The new partnership will initiated in October 2009. The developed PlaySystems will be very educational and child-friendly. Playing with these systems will, except for fun, be good for the child. It improves the locomotion and trains the mind.

Mappa Mondo offers a home for children with a life-threatening or serious chronic disease. A home where children can play, learn, laugh and cry and where they are embraced with attention and care, 24 hours per day. Mappa Mondo is meant for children ranging 0 to 18 years of age, which require continuous intensive nursing. Some children only live in Mappa Mondo for a short while, until their parents are able to provide the care they need again or till a better place is found for the child. Some children only spend a few nights once in a while to unburden their parents.

In Mappa Mondo each individual child is helped differently. Each child is offered warmth, support and safety. Mappa Mondo works with the what the children can do, instead of the limitations the illness brings along. They stimulate the development of each individual child most. They offer security and clarification in what is acceptable and what is not and keep supervision regarding this. They reward good behavior instead of punishing bad. Because of this, the children have the room they need to feel appreciated and develop self-confidence.

Each Mappa Mondo household has room for eight to ten kids. The Mappa Mondo houses all offer a full package under one roof. Medical assistance till relaxation and nursing to pedagogical guidance. Mappa Mondo works using a total care concept. Beside the regular team of nurses and pedagogical employee’s, there are volunteers who also have an important role in the daily care of the children.

There are three Mappa Mondo households in The Netherlands. Together they have room for about 100 children per year. With these houses, Mappa Mondo offers a spot for children from all over the Netherlands.
